Guy Gunter: The Legacy Continues
Guy Gunter was born in Lawrenceville on June 6, 1918. A pioneer in the industry, Mr. Gunter was an American hero, businessman, and loving family man. The business was founded in 1952 by Gunter himself, a pilot during World War II who flew on historic missions like D-Day. Returning to his native Atlanta, he became the “flying salesman.
He would pilot a single-engine plane all over the Southeast selling cutting-edge appliances to thousands. Around 1960 he sold the first built-in refrigerator in the South, a brand that we all know today, Sub-Zero. No one had ever heard of it at the time. He also introduced Garland's commercial stoves for homes. Guy Gunter sold to all the movers and shakers. He designed Hank Aaron’s kitchen, Joseph Lowery's, and many others. From there the rest is history and his history lives on today.
